My name is Breanna Peter (she/her), and I am a licensed psychotherapist who enjoys supporting those in their journey of healing, reflection, and growth throughout life. I work with those who have a desire to move towards a place of thriving, while addressing topics that may have you feeling stuck or alone.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist I use a systemic lens in supporting others; believing in the significance and impact that the relationships we have throughout our lifetime impact us. In using a systems lens, I bring empathy and curiosity in reflection of all relationships, whether that is relationship to oneself, parents, siblings, friendships, your children, or romantic partners. Within my practice I offer room to explore these relationships and build a greater sense of self and confidence.

Approach:

In therapy, I greatly believe in the importance of creating a safe space, while bringing compassion for all that is shared. I believe in providing support for the whole person within my work, addressing how both the Mind and Body have been impacted and ways they connect to one another.

I use various evidenced based therapeutic approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I work with an emphasis on Attachments, Mindfulness, and Mind-Body Connection, while using a Trauma-Informed lens.

In our work together I provide Psychoeducation around the brain, life stages, trauma and stress, and family life cycles. I also bring an awareness of systemic issues of oppression, such as racism, heteronormative culture, the patriarchy, and their impact on daily life.

Professional Experience:

I have over a decade of experience supporting families and individuals; working with vulnerable populations, and various cultures, communities, and tribes.

Working within the child welfare and foster care system, supporting many family structures while holding acknowledgment of generational and historical impact.

Supporting those navigating various life stressors, transitions, and crisis moments. Those healing from different forms of trauma, including sexual abuse and assault, domestic violence, and neglect. Giving voice to the complexities of life, healing, and relationships.

Building space for reflection and growth within families and couples, tending to parent-child connections, and facilitating parenting groups.

Professional Certification:

• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Washington State License # LF61004971

Education:

• Master of Science, Marriage and Family Therapy, Seattle Pacific University

• Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, Seattle Pacific University

I stay up to date in my field through continuing education trainings and workshops.

About Me

Intentions and Care

I acknowledge that I live and work on the stolen land of the Coast Salish people.

Within my practice I endeavor to provide wholistic care and acknowledge the barriers of navigating systems within society that are not always equitable or accessible.

My practice strives to decolonize and destigmatize mental health care. Committing to upholding care for the lives of Indigenous, Black, and other People of Color, affirming and celebrating Queer lives, loves, and experiences. Supporting those who endure through chronic illness and trauma and honoring those living with neurodiversity and disability. To celebrate body and size diversity and recognize the privilege of able-bodies and thinness within society.  My intentions are to provide care that is anti-oppressive and pro-liberation for all.
